Warendorf – The city of the horse

Warendorf, some 5 km away, has developed into one of the most significant sports towns in Germany during the past years and accommodates, among others, the Deutsche Reiterliche Vereinigung (FN) [German Equestrian Federation], the Deutsche Olympiade-Komitee für Reiterei (DOKR) [German Olympic Committee for Equestrian Sports] and the Bundesleistungszentrum Reiten (BLZ) [German Federal Equestrian Sports Centre]. But not only riders are given their money's worth in Sassenberg; the town itself also offers a well developed cycling network with connections to the EmsAuenWeg, a golf course and the most varied of water sports facilities on the Emssee and the Ems River itself.

The historical city centre with its beautiful buildings and churches, an excellent shopping infrastructure, traffic connections via two federal highways and a large number of primary and secondary schools complete the positive picture which Warendorf leaves behind for its visitors and inhabitants.
